About Us

Born From Passion. Driven by Purpose. Saving Lives Since 2015.

Jindo Love Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built entirely by volunteers who refused to look away from South Korea's dog meat trade. From dog meat farms to forever homes — this is our story.

Our Mission

Two Women. One Mission. A Rescue That Changed Everything.

Su Jeong Kim had been rescuing dogs in South Korea from the dog meat trade for years before Jindo Love Rescue existed — it was her personal passion project, and she was doing it largely alone. Then, in June 2015, Patti Kim found Su on Facebook after entering the world of dog rescue the year before. Patti had accidentally encountered the dog meat trade and rescued her first slaughterhouse dog in January 2015, and her heart never recovered. When the two connected, something bigger than either of them could accomplish alone became possible. Jindo Love Rescue was born. Their shared mission was — and remains — to save one life at a time, to prove that a dog meat dog can be a loving, joyful companion, and to build an adoptive family bound by love and support long after the adoption is complete. Many of the dogs they rescue are Korean Jindos or Korean Village Dogs, deeply intelligent and loyal breeds that deserve far better than the fate the meat trade imposes on them — but Jindo Love rescues all breeds and all sizes, because all dogs are at risk.

From South Korea to a Safe Haven: How Our Rescue Works

Every dog's journey begins in South Korea, where our on-the-ground team identifies dogs suffering on dog meat farms, in puppy mills, and in kill shelters — or intercepts them directly from transport trucks headed to slaughter. Once rescued, the dogs are brought into our foster care network in South Korea, where they receive veterinary care, rehabilitation, and the early socialization they need to begin trusting humans again. When a dog is healthy and ready, we coordinate international transport to the United States — a logistically complex process our team has refined over years of operation. Upon arrival, each dog is placed with a carefully vetted U.S. foster family who provides a safe, loving home environment while we work to find the dog's perfect permanent family. Our adopters span the United States and Canada, and our support doesn't end at adoption — we remain a resource for every family that opens their home to one of our dogs. This end-to-end model, powered entirely by volunteers, has allowed us to stop dog meat transport trucks, shut down puppy mills, and end entire dog meat breeding operations — one life at a time.
